Recently, I spoke with Father Mike Van Sloun, the pastor of St. Bartholomew Church, in Wayzata, Minnesota and also is a writer, blogger and chaplain for the Minnesota Vikings.

Prior to becoming a pastor at St. Bart’s, Father Mike was a Priest at the Church of St. Stephens in Anoka, Minnesota, for over 18 years, and before that, at St. Benedict in Chicago, a predominantly African‑American parish.

Prior to be ordained to the priesthood, Father Van Sloun was a religious brother in the Crosiers for 20 years with a focus on forming young people in high school.

Father Van Sloun holds a masters in divinity from Catholic Theological Union with a specialization in sacred scripture.
